LOS ANGELES. Charmaine Clamor, the acclaimed Filipino-American vocalist, has accepted inviations to collaborate with two mainstream institutions.
The United States Department of State has selected Ms. Clamor to represent American Jazz at the State Department's annual Philippines goodwill tour, "America in 3D." Billed as "a road show in diplomacy, development, and defense," the tour lands this year in the Visayan city of Iloilo.

"This is a wonderful way to come full circle," Charmaine Clamor said. "I grew up in the Philippines listening to American music. I immigrated to the States as a teenager. And now, after being the first Filipino-American to make the national jazz charts in the U.S.A., I'm coming home to where my journey began."
Later in the month, on March 17-18, Charmaine Clamor will be the first jazz vocalist to represent the Filipino Community at the famed Getty Museum, in Los Angeles, California. Part of the "Sounds of L.A." series, both concerts are free and open to the public, but advance reservations must be made to claim a seat: Call (310) 440-7300.
At her historic Getty shows, Ms. Clamor will be joined by the renowned folkloric arts troupe Kayamanan Ng Lahi and the Rondalla Club of Los Angeles. The collaborators will dance and play to Charmaine Clamor's celebrated jazzipino music, accompanied by her touring trio.
"This is a dream come true," Clamor revealed. "To share my musical creations at the Getty, with beautiful dancers and the sounds of my homeland, it's something I've always hoped would happen."
