Meet Jessica Johnson: As an R&B vocalist/songwriter, Jessica Johnson may only be only 23, but once she hits the stage you would swear she has been around for at least 20 years. Her music ranges from R&B to jazz classics to well known pop standards. From the moment Jessica walks on stage, her audience is held in the palm of her hand. With her rich sultry voice, she scats, swings, and melts your heart, leaving you yearning for more! Jessica’s second album will be
released late Summer of 2011.
"Jessica is definitely no cookie cutter singer; her voice is far superior to even some of the commercial singers who are already established and, at just such a young age, she is a seasoned vet on the music scene, her bright, vibrant voice reaches all generations." Justin Langston, Sidewalks TV.
We are delighted to announce nine time Grammy winner, Cheryl Bentyne, of the Manhattan Transfer, is now part of the Casting New Lives’ line-up! “When Cheryl is not singing with the Manhattan Transfer, Bentyne has expressed her desire to expand her solo opportunities and has asked Casting New Lives to be her exclusive booking representatives. We are delighted to have her,” says Brinka Rauh, co-owner, Casting New Lives.
Cheryl has some current shows, such as, Dreaming of Mr. Porter, Gershwin Songbook, and Songs of Our Time, that we will market as well as, new material that includes a tribute to Duke Ellington with the Duke Ellington Orchestra that will be ready in the next few months. These shows will be incredibly entertaining and delightful for Cheryl’s fans as well as a great draw for PACs. We are very excited to be part of this amazing artist’s new team.
The Elliot Deutsch Big Band is the youngest, boldest, and hardest swinging big band in Los Angeles. Featuring all original compositions and 17 of the hottest young professionals in jazz, the Elliot Deutsch Big Band has a unique and exciting sound all its own.
Every Elliot Deutsch Big Band performance is an exclusive ticket to the newest live jazz on the scene. Formed in 2007, the group plays with a slick and contemporary style built on a solid foundation of hard swing. With tunes written to be both accessible and complex, the music impresses casual listeners and jazz experts alike. While many big bands are limited by playing only classic material, the Elliot Deutsch Big Band prides itself on playing only original charts and daring new arrangements penned by Deutsch and contributing band members. All the players are up-and-coming young musicians, who take pride and ownership in their distinctive big band sound. That means louder fortes, riskier solos, and a high energy that won't quit.
